The trustees of the Brownsville Independent School District are having a meeting to discuss the budget crisis in the state.
The board meeting takes place days before the legislative session begins in Austin. The legislature will be discussing the budget deficit that is estimated to be as high as $25 billion.
School districts across the state have been warned that they may see a significant decrease in the budget they receive. BISD is having the meeting to consider ways that they can trim the budget with out cutting salaries and the funds that are used to improve classroom instruction.
