An audit confirmed that almost 900 Texas Veteran Affairs nurses received a a raise by mistake and may have to give the money back.
A Texas newspaper reported that a records review led to a more comprehensive audit. An official from the South Texas Veterans Health Care System said that they are helping the 800 registered nurses and 120 licensed vocational nurses receive seek waivers, but there is no guarantee that the wrongful pay raises will be overlooked or forgiven.
The system is working with other organizations to determine the amount of money that will need to be returned.
